Tom Henry, Age 80, died at 11:15 o’clock Thursday morning At the
home of his son,
Jess Henry, three and one-half miles
northwest of Windfall, after a long illness with heart troubles and uremic
poisoning.
He had been in ill health for some time but was forced to remain in his bed
just one week. The aged man had been a resident of this county since a young man.
The deceased was born in Switzerland County on July 25, 1847, and his wife,
who survives, was also born in that county. She was Miss Elizabeth Graham. Both came to the community near Groomsville
at an early age and were married here a short time later.
He was the son of Elisha and Judy Henry who came to this county, with their
family in 1850.
The father entered 80 acres of land from the government in the Groomsville
Community.
Resides the widow and the son Jess near Windfall. The deceased is survived
by a son, Oliver at Greentown and a daughter Mrs. Martha McGraw of Kokomo. A sister Mrs. Sampson also resides in Kokoma and
a foster daughter , Mrs Albert Copp lives at Phiox.
He was a member of the Baptist church at Liberty and was a well respected
citizen who had a large number of friends.
Oliver James Henry
The son of Thomas Benton Henry and Elizabeth Graham.
Was
born September 22 1869 in Windfall, Indiana.. died April 4 1961 in Frankton, Indiana..
Oliver married Martha C Biddle on March 25 1901 in Sharpsville, Indiana.
He was a Farmer in Windfall, and a Grave digger, He was a Caretaker for the
Frankton cemeteries and had a falling out with the board.
He was so angry that he sold his grave plots in Frankton and was buried in
Windfall instead.
Martha and Oliver are buried side by side at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall.
Tombstone reads " Let Jesus Lead he knows the way"
He didnt like his name so they called him OJ instead..
OJ smoked a pipe, No one set in his chair,
used his cup or his plate. OJ went blind,
His Grandson had to find him one day as he wondered from home,
He found him on the Railroad Tracks and took him back home.
